The new excavations 2012
The excavation in Alken Enge 2012 was launched in great anticipation. This year’s excavation was the most rewarding so far, and included a number of surprises and unexpected highlights.
After a long run of logistical preparations, the investigation began on 2 July and ended on 28 august. The investigation was a continuation of older excavations, conducted in 1957-60 and 2008-9.
In total, 79 new square metres were excavated, revealing 425 human bones. The total number of documented human bones from Alken Enge now comes close to 1400.
